TranLIVE UTC
University 运输 Centers Program at ODU
Old Dominion University is part of the 2012 University 运输 Centers (UTCs) Tier 1 Grant Recipients, as a member of the TranLIVE consortium, that includes:
- University of Idaho (铅)
- Old Dominion University
- Virginia Polytechnic and State University
- Syracuse University
- Texas Southern University
The research focus of the UTC is "运输 for Livability by Integrating Vehicles and the Environment" (TranLIVE for short). The main mission of the center is to help our nation achieve the goals of a cleaner environment and greater energy independence through developing new technologies and decision support tools. 美国.S. Department of 运输's RESEARCH and Innovative 技术 政府 announced that a total of 63 University 运输 Center applications were received for a share of the $77 million in grants. A total of 22 grants, each worth $3.5 million (requiring a 1:1 match), were awarded following a review of the submitted proposals. The competition was particularly intense for the Tier 1 grants such as those received by TranLIVE with 46 university teams competing for only 10 opportunities.
Dr. Mecit Cetin, Deputy Director of ODU Center for Innovative 运输 Solutions, is the Principal Investigator of the ODU UTC grant, in addition to two co-Pls: Dr. Mike Robinson, Director of 中国国际旅行社, and Dr. Asad Khattak, Adjunct 教师.
The initial key research goals of this new Tier-1 UTC are to (1) integrate real-time data systems and advanced transportation applications to better manage congestion while minimizing environmental impacts, and (2) to develop modeling, 模拟, and visualization tools that assess energy, environmental impact and emission impacts of transportation systems to support transportation decision making at the local, 区域, and national levels.
