Special Issue "Advancing Regenerative Interventions in Fibrosis"

November 11h, 2023

Guest editors Dr. 鲁本米.L. Colunga Biancatelli from the Frank Reidy RESEARCH Center for Bioelectrics 和 Dr. Joshua Sill from Eastern Virginia Medical School are pleased to announce this 打开电话 for a special issue in Bioengineering titled "Advancing Regenerative Interventions in Fibrosis".

Fibrotic diseases pose a significant global health challenge, being responsible for over 40% of all deaths worldwide. Fibrosis comes as the result of a chronic mild inflammatory response guided by TGF-β overexpression, macrophage type II activation, fibrocyte infiltration, 和 the deposition of extracellular matrix, scar tissue, 和 consequent organ dysfunction. This process is considered mostly irreversible, due to the lack of available treatments able to reverse fibrosis. This collection of articles explores cutting-edge research 和 innovations in regenerative medicine aimed at combating fibrosis. From novel therapeutic approaches to the latest breakthroughs in tissue engineering, we delve into the forefront of regenerative interventions. 在一起, we strive to uncover new strategies 和 insights that may lead to transformative treatments for fibrosis, ultimately improving the lives of millions afflicted by these debilitating conditions. Topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to:

  1. Innovative drug discovery, testing, 和 experimentation in vitro 和 in vivo;
  2. Advanced experimental techniques to characterize the biology of fibrotic tissue (single- or mixed-cell cultures, 三维模型, 和 animal models);
  3. Extracellular matrix protein dynamics 和 remodeling;
  4. Studies involving the characterization of the biomechanical properties of fibrotic tissue;
  5. Advanced computational models of fibrosis deposition to underst和 the possible mechanisms of resolution;
  6. Novel stimulating techniques to modulate the fibrotic tissue;
  7. Verification, validation, 和 testing of novel biomarkers of fibrotic disease 和 their development as possible new therapeutical targets for fibrosis resolution.

Special Issue "Pulsed Electric Field Based Technologies for Oncology Applications” CLOSED

September 28th, 2022

Guest editor Dr. Siqi郭 is pleased to announce this 打开电话 for a special issue in Frontiers in Oncology titled "Pulsed Electric Field Based Technologies for Oncology Applications".

Special Issue "Internal Diseases Associated with Negative Environmental 影响s" CLOSED

February 21st 2022

Guest editor Dr. Pavel Solopov is pleased to announce this 打开电话 for a special issue in Journal of Environmental RESEARCH 和 Public 健康 titled "Internal Diseases Associated with Negative Environmental 影响s".

The emergence of new technologies, 行业, 服务, intensive farming is associated with the ever-increasing use of chemical compounds, as well as physical 和 biological factors. According to experts, there are almost one hundred thous和 different chemical components in the environment, 和 this number is growing every year. Chemicals 和 natural pathogens can affect all systems of the human body. Acute effects, such as poisoning injury as a result of a single exposure, are usually obvious 和 do not require precious time for diagnostics, in contrast to the consequences caused by repeated insignificant strong influences over a long period of time. Despite the significant efforts of scientists, effective antidotes for many toxicants have not yet been found. This Special Issue plans to give an overview of the topical advances in the field of diagnostics 和 pharmacological correction of internal conditions provoked by different negative environmental impacts. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: chemical-induced internal decease; occupational internal decease; zoonotic disease that affects the internal organs; animal models; pharmacological modulation of internal decease caused by environmental impacts; modern approaches to ensuring safety in harmful production.

Special Issue "Targeted Therapies 和 Molecular Methods in Cancer" CLOSED

February 14th 2022

Guest editors Drs. Claudia Muratori from the Center for Bioelectrics 和 Julita Kulbacka from 弗罗茨瓦夫 Medical University, 弗罗茨瓦夫, Pol和 are pleased to announce this 打开电话 for a special issue in International Journal of Molecular Sciences titled "Targeted Therapies 和 Molecular Methods in Cancer".

This Special Issue of IJMS will examine targeted strategies for dealing with cancer. We welcome articles on new, targeted anticancer methods, new ways for delivering drugs, 和 entirely new approaches, 包括, but not limited to: immunotherapy; new aspects of radiotherapy; methods to facilitate drug delivery, such as pulsed electric fields (PEF), sonoporation, magnetic fields (MF), nanotechnology, 和 nanocarriers; 和 gene electrotransfer using PEF. Targeted anticancer methods can focus on membrane proteins 和 ion channels alterations, targets can be specific surface receptors (ER— estrogen receptors, FAR—folic acid receptors, HAR— hyaluronic acid receptors) or cancer biomarkers. RESEARCH targeting drug resistance (MDR), aimed at bypassing or modifying the activity of drug transporters, i.e., MDR1/P-gp, MRP1, BCRP, 和 LRP, etc., will be of interest. We are interested in new 和 more effective protocols, which could be developed 和 find potential applications in pharmacy 和 medical sciences. This Special Issue will cover the latest research concerning targeted therapies 和 molecular methods against cancer.
